Throughout the duration of the performance I am stood alongside my painting ‘Balance’, and as in the painting i am also balancing a whiskey glass on my head, however we differ in our levels of dress, highlighting the nudity of the painting and perhaps evoking thoughts about how we choose to express ourselves in public, seperate from a ‘true’ self. The nature of standing, the glass balanced, negates any opportunity for movement or expression. I am still, mute, and exactly where i have placed myself for the purposde of the performance. Despite being an embodied element of the work, both myself and my two-dimentional counterpart are images, privy to an audience and as still as we can be.
